New Netsys Products! Introducing the NV-600WEKIT and NV-202PEKIT!

We are excited to announce two new products that have been added to our diverse VDSL2 product line!  Both of these products add additional flexibility to help meet the variety of network requirements experienced in the field and to help simplify your network by eliminating the need for additional equipment at remote locations.  As with all of our products, these new VDSL2 Ethernet extender kits provide the extraordinary bandwidth, long range, and reliability (read more about our new two-year standard warranty here) you have come to expect from Netsys brand products!

First up is the new Netsys HyperXtender GT Ethernet Extender Kit with WiFi Remote Unit (NV-600WEKIT), which combines all of the features of our popular NV-600EKIT with a remote unit featuring a built-in WiFi router, eliminating the need for an additional WiFi router or access point at the remote location!  The NV-600WEKIT is capable of speeds up to 100Mbps symmetrical up to the first 1,000', and has a total range of 4,200' at speeds of up to 30Mbps downstream and 3Mbps upstream.  The NV-600WE remote unit features a built-in WiFi router, and many advanced functions such as one-touch WiFi set up through WPS, WEP, WPA, WPA2, full 802.11n compliance, backwards ADSL compatibility, advanced firewall controls, HTTPS web management, and static routing for IPv6 forwarding, providing maximum flexibility to suit your network's needs.  The NV-600WEKIT uses only a single twisted pair for data transmission, features a built-in POTS/ISDN splitter, and the one touch WPS WiFi set up, you can configure a wireless network at your remote location in a matter of seconds!

Next up is the new Netsys HyperXtender ER Ethernet Extender Kit with PoE Remote Unit (NV-202PEKIT), which combines the speed and range of the extremely popular NV-202EKIT with the ability to power Power over Ethernet enabled devices off the dual 10/100Mbps PoE-injected Ethernet ports of the NV-202PE remote unit.  With speeds up to 100Mbps symmetrical for the first 1,000' and a total range of 10,000' at speeds up to 5.04Mbps downstream and 1.48Mbps upstream, the NV-202PEKIT allows for maximum flexibility when dealing with network devices requiring PoE.  Completely Plug N Play with no configuration required, the NV-202PEKIT is simple and fast to install.  And once the NV-202PE is connected to its provided external 48V DC power supply, it is capable of powering any industry standard (IEEE 802.3af/802.3at) PoE device through its dual PoE-injected Ethernet ports, eliminating the need for additional equipment at the remote location to power your IP cameras, WiFi access points, etc.!

New Two Year Standard Warranty

We are proud to announce a new two year standard mail-in warranty on all Netsys products sold after January 1st, 2014!  This is an honest two year standard warranty provided at no extra cost to you, unlike some other companies advertising extended warranties that cost more. Netsys-America, LLC is proving once again why we are #1 in customer service and support.

Our new warranty covers product issues that are not caused by visible surge or environmental damage. Further, products that are opened or modified are excluded from warranty coverage.  If you find that your Netsys product has failed in the field, please call our support team at 1-877-638-7971, email us at support@netsys-america.com, or use the live chat feature on our website.  If we determine that your product needs repair, you can either ship it back in to us or take advantage of our advance replacement program.  When you send a failed product back into us, we provide FREE diagnostic services to determine the cause of the failure and warranty status of the product.  If the product is covered under warranty, we will ship out the repaired product or comparable replacement product (at our discretion) via FedEx Priority Overnight at no extra charge.  If the product is not covered under warranty, we will contact you and provide an estimate for the repairs or a replacement product prior to performing any out-of-warranty services.  We will also notify you if the product is not repairable due to surge, environmental or other excluded damage.

If you need an emergency replacement, you can purchase a replacement product through our advanced replacement program and have it shipped to you right away using your desired shipping method.  Under our advanced replacement program, you would pay up front for the cost of the replacement product and we would ship it to you via Priority Overnight at no cost to you for products still covered under warranty.  If the product is no longer covered under warranty, you would pay for your desired shipping method.  Once you receive and install the replacement product, you would pack up the failed product and return it to us at your cost using the RA# provided by our support staff.  Once received and inspected, we would credit back the cost the replacement product, less any agreed upon repair fees (for non-warranty repairs), provided the failure is not caused by surge, environmental or other excluded causes. While our advanced replacement program is an effective way of getting your system back up quickly after a failure, we strongly recommend that our customers stock spare products for mission critical applications.

Split Pairs

One of the most common problems encountered when installing Ethernet extenders are split pairs.  All Netsys Ethernet extenders that run over network-grade cable or existing phone wiring require a twisted pair to carry the signal.  Like it sounds, a twisted pair is two wires twisted together, and the majority cables have multiple twisted pairs in them.  Twisting the wires together helps to eliminate electrical noise entering into and leaving the cable and helps minimize cross-talk (signals leaking between wires in a cable).  A split pair is when one wire from one pair gets swapped with another wire from a second pair at both ends of the cable.  A split pair negates the effect of having a twisted pair and renders the cable unsuitable for carrying broadband data.  The symptoms of a split pair can vary depending on the length of the line with the split pair and the quality of the cable, ranging from the Ethernet extenders linking but passing data very slowly to unstable links to no link at all.  See the diagram below for an example of a split pair.

Because most cables have multiple twisted pairs, split pairs are a common error that can be easy to make, but more difficult to detect due to the fact that continuity, resistance, and insulation tests will not detect a split pair.  The easiest way to check for split pairs is to do a visual inspection of the terminations along the length of the cable.  There are also several testers available that can check for split pairs, although they are specialized and can be expensive.  If you are unable to get your Ethernet extenders to link up and pass data normally when installing them, try linking them up over a short run of cable in a testing environment to make sure they are working first, and then check your terminations to make sure you have the correct two wires (the two that are twisted together) punched down on the correct pins throughout the length of the line.  Remember, just because a pair has continuity does not mean it is wired correctly!

Twisted Pair Surge Protection

When installing your Ethernet extenders, especially in areas prone to lightning or industrial environments, it is extremely important to make sure that your extenders are properly protected.  This includes not only surge protection for the AC power, but for the Ethernet ports and on the DSL port for the line that is used to connect the extenders.  In the majority of installs, this line will be a single copper twisted-pair, and is one of the most vulnerable parts of a lot of Ethernet extenders.  Proper surge protection on the DSL/Line ports is essential to keeping your Ethernet extenders up and running, and will keep you from experiencing outages and down-time in your application.

When left unprotected, an Ethernet extender's DSL/Line port is vulnerable to lightning and other power surges traveling up the twisted pair used to connect the extenders.  Surge damage through the DSL/Line ports is one of the leading causes of failed Ethernet extenders, and this type of damage will generally void the warranty of the extender as well.  A good line surge protector will have a clamping point of 48-64V DC if the extenders are being used for data only, and a clamping point of 90-130V DC if the extender is carrying a POTS signal as well as a data signal.  Netsys carries Stormin' Protection brand surge protectors custom designed and tested to protect the DSL/Line ports of Ethernet extenders.  The Stormin' Protection SP-48VKIT is for use in applications where the Ethernet extender is carrying only a data signal, while the SP-130VKIT is used in applications where the extender is carrying a POTS signal as well as the data signal.  Each kit features two easy-to-install surge protectors, one for each Ethernet extender at either end of the line.  The twisted pair is terminated into the surge protector (Make sure to ground the grounding wire properly!), and has an RJ-11 jack that plugs directly into the Line port of the Ethernet extender, providing superior protection from lighting and other power surges.
